'Antonio Banderas'

  The Latin Heartthrob Antonio Banderas was born in Malaga, Spain in 1960. He studied at the School of Dramatic Art. His dream of becoming a professional soccer player was shattered after his broke his foot at the age of fourteen. His first taste of acting was with an independent theatre group who traveled and toured all of Spain. Continuing to act in Spain, Banderas moved to Madrid in 1981 after being recruited by the National Theatre of Spain. 

    In 1992 Banderas made his American film debut in the movie 'Mambo Kings.' At the time of this movie Antonio knew very little English, soon after he entered an 8-hour a day total intense program giving him a crash course of the English language to the point he spoke it fluently. His breakthrough role into the American film industry was for his part in 'Philadelphia. Antonio's career was just taking off. 

   He was married to the Spanish actress Ana Leza for 8 years, but is currently married to actress Melanie Griffith. Antonio and Melanie have one child of their own named Estella, and two children from Melanie's previous marriages, Alexander and Dakota.
